On Monday, September 23, PCB took to Twitter to share glimpses of their much-awaited Connection Camp, which took place at a hotel in Lahore.  Notably, Pakistan cricket is at an all-time low. They suffered early exits during the 2023 World Cup and T20 World Cup 2024, following which they were at the centre of criticism, which is why the camp aims to discuss future plans and lay a guideline.

In the video released by PCB, chairman Mohsin Naqvi attended the event via video call, while star players like Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Salman Ali Agha, and a few others were also in attendance.

"This is a critical step towards restoring Pakistan cricket's pride. We aim to address challenges head-on and create a results-driven strategy to meet the expectations of our passionate fans," remarked PCB Chairman.

Gary Kirsten And Jason Gillespie Lay Out The Plan

Jason Gillespie and Gary Kirsten were also a part of the meeting and highlighted the importance of open dialogue within the team. Gary Kirsten put forward the need to refine white-ball cricket strategies. This session represents the first phase of a continuous effort to enhance player development, improve performance, and inspire the next generation of cricketers.

Shaheen Afridi was one of the noticeable absentees from the list. It is worth noting that Afridi's reason for absence from the meeting has not been disclosed, but his injury against the Dolphins on Sunday, September 22, could be one.

Shaheen Afridi Suffers Injury Against The Dolphins

On Sunday, September 22, during the match between Lions and Dolphins, Shaheen injured his knee after a delivery from Faheem Ashraf hit Shaheen on his left knee, which left him in immense pain. The physio arrived on the ground, and eventually, Afridi returned to the pavilion, retired hurt.  However, Afridi returned to bat at the fall of the next wicket as his side chased a mammoth total of 327 runs. Afridi scored an unbeaten 33 (28), which featured five sixes.

Meanwhile, Afridi has shrugged off a long-term injury during the post-match presentation.
