Virat Kohli, often regarded as one of India’s finest batters, has struggled in Test cricket recently. Despite his success in limited-overs formats, his form in the longest version of the game has been under scrutiny. After a long hiatus from Test cricket, Kohli made his much-anticipated return against Bangladesh, but he failed to make a significant impact, scoring only 6 and 17 runs across both innings.

Kohli’s form in Test cricket has been inconsistent for the past couple of years. His average has dipped, and his struggles have been a concern for Indian cricket fans and the team management alike. Although he has regained his rhythm in white-ball formats, his inability to replicate that success in Tests is worrying, especially with a hectic Test schedule ahead for India

Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has chosen not to criticize Kohli for his failures in the first Test against Bangladesh. Instead, he expressed confidence that Kohli will bounce back, especially in the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia.

“Virat Kohli will score runs against Australia. He will like the wickets Down Under. Big cricketers lose concentration against weak teams, but they perform well against challenging opponents," Ali stated

Despite Kohli's underwhelming performance, India secured a comprehensive victory against Bangladesh, winning by 280 runs. The match saw the triumphant return of Rishabh Pant, who scored a century, and Ravichandran Ashwin, who shone with 113 runs and six wickets at his home ground. Their performances overshadowed Kohli’s struggles and helped India take a 1-0 lead in the series.

Virat Kohli Eyes Redemption In The Second Test

Kohli will be eager to redeem himself in the second and final Test against Bangladesh, scheduled in Kanpur from September 27. Fans are hopeful that he will regain his form and deliver a strong performance, proving once again why he is considered one of the best batters in the world.
