The T20I series between the two best teams of the World Cup 2023 started with a last-ball thriller. The young Indian team under the leadership of Suryakumar Yadav acquires their first win of the series against Australia. Rinku Singh, yet again showcased his ability to finish games under pressure.

The Australian team were asked to bat first and Josh Inglis played a brilliant knock of 110 off just 50 deliveries. The former Australian skipper, Steve Smith scored a half-century as well and Tim David gave a finishing touch which took the total of Aussies to 208 runs

Team India brought themselves back into the game by taking a couple of wickets and then batted exceptionally to record the highest chase by the Indian team in the shortest format. Surya played a vital role in the chase and scored 80 off just 42 deliveries and made a partnership of 112 runs with Ishan Kishan which brought India closer to the target.

Here's what Suryakumar Yadav said after winning the first match as the captain of the Indian team:

"Very happy with the way boys displayed their talent on the field and I was really happy with the energy despite being put under pressure. But the way everyone came back into the game, I just loved it."

On being asked about leading a bunch of young players, Surya felt happy to be on the winning side and praised the youngsters for keeping their nerves under this kind of pressure.

"Just felt there will be a little bit of dew but there wasn't any help from that. I knew it was a small ground, the wicket gets better later on and when we were bowling we thought it will be 230 or 240 but the bowlers took us back in the game in the end. I just told them to go out, express yourself. After 30/2, we can just be on the positive side and very happy to be on the winning side."

Rinku Singh did what he does for the Kolkata Knight Riders and made sure that India reach the finishing line. He smashed 40 runs off just 24 deliveries and smashed a six on the last ball when India need one run. Surya further praised Rinku for his brilliant finish and helping the Indian team win the game.

"I told the tailenders [post dismissal] to not take the game too deep. But the way the boys kept their nerves, it was great to see from Rinku. He hasn't played a lot of international cricket but it was a perfect situation for him. 24 ball 40 and his calm and composure relaxed me. I was happy to see him finish the game."
