In an encouraging development, Tushar Deshpande is set to return to action in the second half of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season after missing significant time in rehab with an ankle injury. Deshpande could rejoin Mumbai squad in their home game against Jammu and Kashmir, which is scheduled for January 23, 2025.
Promising young pacer from Mumbai, Tushar Deshpande, left a profound impact with the ball in Mumbai’s title-winning campaign in Ranji Trophy 2023-24. He picked up 15 wickets in 5 games and lifted the title with his teammates. Tushar also made his debut for the Indian team in the T20I series against Zimbabwe, but his happiness was short-lived.
Tushar Deshpande to comeback after ankle injury
Tushar Deshpande injured his ankle, and the BCCI sent him to London for specialised surgery in September. Since his return from UK, the fast bowler has been spending time in rehab at BCCI’s Center of Excellence in Bengaluru.
Meanwhile, in an uplifting news, TOI reported that Tushar Deshpande is all fit and ready to return back to action. He is likely to rejoin Mumbai for the second half of the Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season, starting from a home game against Jammu and Kashmir on January 23.
Despite a noteworthy performance in IPL 2024, CSK didn’t retain Tushar Deshpande. Still, given his recent rise, the pacer will be in demand at the upcoming IPL 2025 mega auction with CSK also in contention of using an RTM card.
Deshpande dismissed Sikandar Raza for his maiden wicket
On his T20I debut for India, Tushar Deshpande dismissed Zimbabwe captain Sikandar Raza in a perfect set up. Raza, batting at 46 off 29 balls, went down on his knees for a big shot but top edged it to Shubman Gill at short extra cover. Tushar roared in delight as he scalped his maiden international cricket which marked the beginning of what appears to be a promising career for the 29-year-old.
