Tushar Deshpande, the promising fast bowler from Mumbai, experienced a life-defining moment as he received his debut cap for the Indian cricket team. The ceremony was filled with emotion as Deshpande, accompanied by his wife, struggled to hold back tears, overwhelmed by the magnitude of the occasion.
For the fourth T20I of the five-game series against Zimbabwe, captain Shubman Gill announced a new playing XI. The series, which marked several debuts of young IPL stars, saw another CSK pacer making his way up.
Tushar Deshpande replaced Avesh Khan in India's playing XI for the fourth T20I against Zimbabwe.
Deshpande gets emotional while receiving debut cap
Ahead of the toss, Deshpande received his debut cap from Sairaj, former captain of Mumbai domestic cricket team. VVS Lakshman urged Sairaj to do the honours as he and Tushar share similar roots.
Sairaj congratulated the pacer for his journey from the streets of Mumbai to the national cricket team and advised him to enjoy the new phase ahead.
Meanwhile, Tushar Deshpande got emotional upon receiving the debut cap and revealed how his family's dream came true. He remembered his dad, who worked hard to back his passion, and shared how it's a collective achievement for the family back in Mumbai.
Notably, Deshpande also had his wife alongside him on this special occasion. She recalled the sacrifices the pacer had to make to reach his point, and she couldn't be happier to experience the once-in-a-lifetime moment with her husband.
That being said, Tushar Deshpande's first trip in national colours was decent, as he went 1/30 in 3 overs. Regardless, it's just the start of a promising career for Tushar, who aims to achieve excellence in the sport for his country.
