Bangladesh cricket has undergone a few changes at the administration level recently, as Faruque Ahmed replaced Nazmul Hassan who recently resigned from the post.
At present, Bangladesh are in Pakistan, taking on the Shan Masood-led side for two Test match series. Meanwhile, the newly elected president Ahmed has hinted at Tamim Iqbal's return to Bangladesh playing XI.
"I will have to talk to him [Tamim]. He is a very sensible boy. I feel that he is one of the best from Bangladesh. Personally, if you ask me, I would want him to play for two-three more years. But me wanting that doesn't mean it will happen. We will have to see what his fitness is like," Faruque told the media.
Notably, Tamim has not played a solitary game for The Tigers since September 2023. Tamim's return is also a worrying sign for Shakib Al Hasan as things are not well between the two veteran players.
What Happened Between Shakib Al Hasan And Tamim Iqbal
During the build-up to the 2023 World Cup in India, Iqbal was playing against New Zealand, when he suffered a back injury. Later, he was not named in the squad for the World Cup, which led to Iqbal blaming the board.
There were claims that Iqbal was asked to bat down the order, and he denied that request stating that he never batted in the middle-order in his entire career.
Meanwhile, Shakib hit back at Iqbal and stated that the opener was not a team man and called him childish. Notably, Tamim had once took retirement and reversed his decision.
