Amritsar-Born Gill Among Two Other Indian Origin Players Named In Australia's U-19 Squad

On Thursday, August 22, Cricket Australia announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming women's under-19 tri-series involving New Zealand and Sri Lanka, set to be played at home from September 19. 

The CA has named three Indian-origin players in the squad. It features Ribya Syan, Samara Dulvin, and Hasrat Gill. 

Talking about Gill, she has her origins in Amritsar and moved out of India at the age of 3. 

Cricket Australia commented on the inclusion of Indian-origin stars headlining their squads and praised the cultural diversity within the cricket board in Australia. 

“Their inclusion reflects the growing diversity within Australian cricket and the significant contributions of players with Indian heritage,” CA said in their statement.

Australian U19 Women’s – T20 Squad: Bonnie Berry, Caoimhe Bray, Ella Briscoe, Maggie Clark, Samara Dulvin, Lucy Finn, Hasrat Gill, Lucy Hamilton, Amy Hunter, Eleanor Larosa, Ines McKeon, Ribhya Syan, Tegan Williamson, Elizabeth Worthley, Hayley Zauch.

CA Pick Indian-Origin Vishwa Ramkumar For Upcoming India U-19 men's tour

On August 9, Cricket Australia released the squad of their Under-19 side for the upcoming India U-19 men's tour starting in September. Australia U-19 will tour India U-19 for three-match fifty-over games and two four-day games. They named India-origin Vishwa Ramkumar in the squad.

The leg-spinner is a part of the 16-member squad. Ramkumar represents Victoria in age-group cricket and is associated with the Dandenong Cricket Club.
