In a notable and symbolic gesture, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the IPL Governing Council have planned a special tribute ceremony dedicated to the Indian Armed Forces during the IPL 2025 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on June 3. This ceremony will honor the bravery and heroism of the Indian armed forces who participated in Operation Sindoor, launched in swift retaliation to the brutal terrorist attack in Pahalgam in April.

Military Chiefs Unlikely to be present at the IPL Finale

However, according to a NDTV report it indicates that the three service chiefs of the Armed forces, who were initially invited to attend the tribute event, are now unlikely to be present due to unknown reasons.

Despite their expected absence, the ceremony is expected to be a deeply patriotic moment, reflecting national unity and respect for the armed forces ahead of the IPL final.

Armed Forces Take Spotlight at Final

The final will feature Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) alongside one of the remaining contenders in Punjab Kings, Mumbai Indians, or Gujarat Titans. The Indian Premier League was earlier suspended for a week due to escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.

It then resumed from May 17th and is now set to conclude its 18th season with the final on Tuesday next week where the BCCI is seeking to bridge the worlds of sport and service, bringing national attention to the sacrifices made by security personnel during this period.

The stadium, expected to be packed with more than one lakh fans, will serve not only as a sporting venue but also as a platform for national remembrance and pride, highlighting ricket’s role as a unifying force in India.
