Trent Boult will go down as one of the finest exponents of the new ball. He has made an impact across formats for the Kiwis, and in the IPL too, he has dominated the Powerplay phase. The bowler is a beast in the first over, and in a big game against the Gujarat Titans, the pacer has delivered again with a crucial wicket of Shubman Gill.
Trent Boult Shows First-Over Supremacy Against GT
The GT skipper was removed for a score of one on the third ball of the innings with a lovely inswinger. Gill's wicket was Boult's 32nd in the first over, and he has extended his lead over Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who has 27 wickets in first overs of his IPL career. Boult has picked his 32nd first-wicket in the 102nd innings, while Bhuvneshwar Kumar has 27 wickets in 135 innings.
Deepak Chahar who is also playing for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2025 is third in the list with 15 first-over wickets in 83 innings. Praveen Kumar also has 15 of those in 89 innings, while Sandeep Sharma is below them with 13 wickets.
