Bangladesh pacer, Taskin Ahmed has urged the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) to prepare sporting wickets at home to improve the quality of their T20 cricket. After the Tests, the visiting Bangladesh side were outplayed in the first two T20I matches against a rampant Indian team.
Both the T20Is, at Gwalior and Delhi were one-sided as Bangladesh provided no challenge to the Suryakumar led Indian side and were crushed easily as the Indian team have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
After the humiliating loss in Gwalior, captain Najmul Hossain Shanto voiced over better T20 pitches at home, so as to improve the quality of Bangladesh cricket. BCB President Faruque Ahmed had a lengthy discussion on the same topic in a press briefing, earlier this week.
Now, Taskin has come out and supported Najmul Shanto's statement, adding that they need better pitches so that the batters get used to posting high totals in T20 matches.
"We have to improve our skills, but we also need to play on better wickets back home," Taskin said. "These are the main reasons [for the defeat]. We have informed the board, so I am sure they are thinking about [better pitches]. They gave us hope that they will make things better. It is up to them how they will improve conditions back home," as quoted by ESPNCricinfo.
Bangladesh have looked clueless in the T20I series
In T20Is, Bangladesh were expected to provide some challenge to this Indian side, but they faltered big time. In the first T20I match, Bangladesh were bundled out for a paltry 127, and India chased it down within 12 overs, showcasing their dominance.
Again, in Delhi, Bangladesh had the upper hand when India were reduced to 3 early wickets. However, the Tigers failed to capitalised with the ball and allowed India to post 221/9. In reply, the Najmul Hossain Shanto led team were restricted to 135/9, thus giving India an easy series win.
