Former Pakistan cricketer, Ramiz Raja has questioned the quality of pitch being offered in Multan for the first Pakistan Vs England Test match. The Test has so far witnessed more than 1300-runs being scored, and bowlers becoming helpless on this surface.
Pakistan batted first and piled on 556 runs, with three batters scoring centuries. The England bowlers couldn't get much purchase from the pitch as Pakistan looked confident after their first innings.
However, when England came out to bat, they made a mockery of the Pakistan bowling, hammering 823 runs, with a run-rate of nearly 5 runs per over. Joe Root, the star batter slammed a double century, but the highlight of the innings was Harry Brook.
The Yorkshire batter became just the sixth English batter to hammer a triple century in Tests as he scored a brilliant 317 off 322 balls. While doing commentary, Ramiz Raja, the former PCB chairman felt sorry for the state of Multan Pitch and showed sympathy towards the Pakistan bowlers.
"I'm sure bowlers will be questioning the quality of this track because they bend their back and nothing has happened," said Raja. "You start questioning why such a surface was provided and why are we playing on such a surface at home."
Pakistan on the verge of defeat
England declared their innings at 823, and Pakistan batters were expected to play a positive brand of cricket. However, disaster struck as they lost a flurry of wickets in the beginning.
The openers departed cheaply, and England also trapped the big fish, Babar Azam for a low score of 5. Not even Mohammad Rizwan could not do much and was knocked over cheaply as Pakistan are on the verge of defeat after posting in excess of 500-runs in their first innings.
