Former England skipper Eoin Morgan, who led England to the 2019 World Cup, spoke highly about the Indian team and remarked that the records etched by the Three Lions come nowhere close to the ones scripted by the Indian team.
Morgan praised India's hunger to win matches and expects the same from the Rohit Sharma-led side going into the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in 2024.
Morgan Praises Indian Cricket Team
Morgan remarked that Indian side never takes any match for granted and give their 100%. He also praised the hunger within the players to win matches for their country.
"They (India) have to be considered one of the greatest in their own conditions. What makes them so good is their hunger and the desire to want to win. Their attitude towards that they never take for granted. We come from countries that have huge advantages for the home side. But yet, our records throughout generations are nowhere near as good as Indians," remarked Morgan.
Morgan Warns India Of Lyon's Threat
Talking about the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Morgan urged the Indian side to be wary of Nathan Lyon, who is the leading wicket-taker in the history of the WTC cycle.
"If they go to Australia and play in that manner, a big part of that series will lie in the balance on the fitness of Nathan Lyon and how they play him. If they take that mindset into playing Nathan Lyon like that, it asks a lot of questions of Australia," Morgan stated.
Notably, India will tour Australia for a crucial five-match Test series starting from November 22. It is a crucial series from WTC point of view as India are on top of the table and would look to seal their place in the finals.
