On Thursday, Harry Brook became the sixth English batter to score a triple century in Test cricket. He shattered multiple records as England piled pressure on Pakistan in the Multan Test match.

Not often you see a triple hundred being scored in Test cricket. Before Harry Brook, the last triple ton was slammed by David Warner in 2019, and interestingly, even that came up against the Pakistan side. While some triple centuries take ages to score, there have been instances when the batters have swiftly moved towards the mark and have achieved the phenomenal landmark in quick time.

In this piece, we list out the 3 fastest triple centuries scored in Test cricket.

3) Matthew Hayden

One of the most explosive batter of his era, Matthew Hayden was a menacing figure and was naturally an attacking batter, and Zimbabwe found it out first hand in 2003, during a Test match in Perth.

Batting on a relatively flat deck in Perth, Australia took on Zimbabwe with ease and slammed a mammoth 735/6 in their first innings. The chief destroyer with the bat was Hayden, who made a mockery of the Zimbabwe attack and slammed 380, the then highest score in Test cricket.

The previous best score in Tests was 375, scored by Brian Lara against England, and Hayden surpassed him with a breath-taking knock. Also, he took only 362 deliveries to attain the landmark.

2) Harry Brook

The modern day maestro, Harry Brook's Test career started in Pakistan in 2022, and his highest Test score was also scored in Pakistan, in the ongoing Test match. On a flat surface in Multan, Brook took advantage of the good start by the English batters and alongside Joe Root, stitched a 412-run stand as a helpless Pakistan attack was taken down with ease.

He was at his attacking best and with just 1.5 days left in the Test match, Brook went bonkers and registered a 310-ball triple ton, as he became the sixth English batter to attain the feat.

1) Virender Sehwag

Before Brook, there was another attacking batter who tormented Pakistan for ages, and his name was Virender Sehwag. He has a triple century against Pakistan, but his fastest triple ton came up against South Africa in Chennai.

During a Test match, Sehwag showed his aggressive best and hammered the likes of Makhaya Ntini, Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel to torment the Proteas attack. During those days, Chepauk used to produce flat tracks, but the opposition had some quality bowlers.

Sehwag hammered 42 fours and 5 sixes and reached the triple-digit landmark inside 278 balls, which was the fastest triple centuries scored in terms of balls.
