Tamim Iqbal, the talismanic Bangladesh batter and former skipper is set to make his comeback in the competitive cricket in Bangladesh Premier League 2024. The tournament is scheduled to be played in January 2024 and Tamim is set to ply his trade for Fortune Barishal this time around.

The Bangladesh legend was recently in news for all the wrong reasons following his non-selection in the World Cup 2023 squad. It was followed by some serious allegations by Shakib Al Hasan on Tamim Iqbal and the Southpaw's rift with team management and BCB made lot of headlines. It was all after Tamim Iqbal had taken back his retirement following intervention by Pakistan Prime Minister, Sheikh Hasina.

However, the World Cup ouster was a rude shock to him and his loyal fans, and it seemed that Tamim Iqbal's story as a Bangladesh cricketer has come to an unexpected end.

However, things seem to be moving in a right direction yet again, as Tamim's meeting with BCB president Nazmul Hasan have come to a fruitful conclusion. In a media briefing at his residence, Tamim Iqbal opened up about his future plans and his interaction with BCB president.

"After the World Cup, I felt that there should be a decision about my international future. Throughout my career, I have always kept myself away from indecision. I have always been very open and clear about whatever decision I have taken in my life."

"I had taken a decision about my future. Everyone knows about it. I had an understanding. I had to communicate with the cricket board officials. I spoke to the board president about a lot of things. We had an open discussion. He shared a lot of things too. I told him what I want to do."

"The board president told me to stop till January since he is busy with the [national parliamentary] elections. I think I will start playing cricket again from the BPL. After that, you will get a clearer idea about what happened."

Tamim Iqbal has made clear that he has his plans ready but as board president has told him to stop till January due to elections, he will first play BPL and then take more concrete decision on his international future.
