'I Will Definitely Play...' Hasan Ali Hopeful About IPL Participation In Future

Pakistan fast-bowler Hasan Ali reinforced the heartfelt desire of all contemporary Pakistan cricketers to feature in the Indian Premier League (IPL) across the border.

Even as their own Pakistan Super League (PSL) has established a strong hold on the T20 market and is the second-most popular league, envy persists in the minds of Pakistani cricketers about their Indian counterparts, who fetch million-dollar contracts via IPL gigs.

Notably, no Pakistani cricketer has turned up in the cash-rich Indian T20 league since its inaugural edition back in 2008, when Mumbai terrorist attacks broke the two countries' relationship and created sustained geopolitical tension.

India and Pakistan only face each other in multi-team major events such as the Asian Cup and ICC tournaments, with their previous men's bilateral arrangements dating back to December 2012, when the Asian giants arrived on Indian shores for three ODIs and three T20Is.

For Pakistani players, the strained relationship between the two neighbours has also meant diminished income and a lack of great playing exposure in T20s since they have been barred from putting their names up at IPL auctions.

"Every player wants to play IPL & it is my wish to play there. It is one of the biggest leagues in the world and I will definitely play there if there is an opportunity in the future," Hasan told Pakistan-based 'Samaa TV' after being queried about his wish to play the IPL in India.

Given he has been an integral part of the Pakistan limited-overs set-up, Hasan would be an understated pick in an IPL auction where mostly Australians and Englishmen hog the limelight among overseas options.

Not just him, multiple members of the Pakistani outfit, including stars Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi, could bag a huge sum in the bidding war because of their talent and also greater understanding of the subcontinent conditions and mass appeal.
