For many athletes in professional sports, moments of prayers remain an important source of balance. India’s T20I cricket captain Suryakumar Yadav is no different, considering the blistering middle-order batter often finds time from his packed calendar to seek divine blessings along with his wife Devisha Shetty.

The cricketer has now once again taken a brief pause away from the field to offer prayers, with the T20 World Cup 2026 firmly in focus. On Monday, December 29; Suryakumar Yadav was spotted attending a sacred temple in Tirupati as part of the Vaikunta Ekadashi observances.

On Monday, December 29; Suryakumar Yadav and his wife Devisha Shetty attended the Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Tirumala, Tirupati to offer their prayers. Celebrating the occasion of the Vaikunta Ekadashi festival, one can assume that the Indian T20I captain also sought blessings ahead of the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2026.

As one can expect, both Suryakumar Yadav and his wife Devisha Shetty were also swarmed by fans and media personnel as the two were making their way towards the temple.

Suryakumar Yadav recently endured his worst year in international cricket, at least as a batter. In 19 innings spanning 21 T20I matches, the cricketer aggregated just 218 runs at a dismal average of 13.62. He scored 47* of those runs in a single innings against Pakistan during a small chase at the 2025 Asia Cup.

However, as a captain, Suryakumar Yadav led Team India to emphatic T20I series wins over England and South Africa at home; and against Australia ‘Down Under’. Furthermore, he also led the Indian cricket team to its ninth Asia Cup crown at the 2025 event in the UAE.

With T20 World Cup 2026 on the horizon, Suryakumar Yadav will surely be hoping that his prayers translate into a return to peak form, complementing the leadership success he has already delivered for India.
