Suryakumar Yadav took a remarkable catch near the boundary rope during the final of the T20 World Cup, which proved crucial in India's victory by 7 runs against South Africa. India won the title after 17 years since winning it in the 2007.

However, controversy arose when South African media published a photo suggesting the boundary rope was placed slightly beyond the original line.

The catch occurred in the decisive final over of the match, with South Africa needing 16 runs in 6 balls. David Miller faced Hardik Pandya's first delivery, hitting a full toss that Yadav managed to spectacularly catch at the boundary, showcasing his acrobatic skills.

Suryakumar successfully caught the ball just inside the long-off ropes, briefly crossing the boundary line in the process, but quickly returned within the field of play to complete the incredible catch.

After the final, several pictures and videos of the match went viral on Twitter. Suryakumar Yadav himself has now come forward to explain his version of events.

"I didn't touch the line when I caught the ball in the final match against South Africa. We can't keep everyone happy. I did what occurred to me as correct. By the grace of God, I was there when the ball came towards me. I got a chance to take the catch. I am relishing that moment," Suryakumar Yadav spoke to media.

Suryakumar Yadav is expected to play a senior role in the India T20I team alongside Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah, particularly since Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have retired from T20Is

If Hardik Pandya assumes the captaincy, Suryakumar Yadav is likely to serve as his deputy in the T20I format.
