With the Indian Premier League (IPL) concluded, all eyes will shift on the upcoming ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2023, where India and Australia will clash on June 7 at The Oval for the coveted mace. While several Australian players have been playing County cricket, Indian cricketers were busy with the IPL.

Only Cheteshwar Pujara played red-ball cricket during the duration of IPL, during his stint with Sussex in County Championship 2023-24. Ahead of the all-important Test, former India captain Sunil Gavaskar has pointed out a chink in armour for Rohit Sharma and Co.

Speaking to Star Sports, Gavaskar explained that Indian batters' biggest test will be adjusting to Test cricket, straight away after playing T20 cricket for two-odd months.

Here's what Gavaskar said

"The biggest test will be the fact that just about everybody will be coming out of a T20 format, and Test cricket is a longer format. So, I think that's going to be the big challenge."

"They (India) have only Cheteshwar Pujara who has been playing in the English County Championship, so he will be the only guy who has played the longer format in these conditions, so that's going to be a big challenge for them."

Gavaskar further backed middle-order batter Ajinkya Rahane to come good in the final against Australia, having had a vast experience of playing in English conditions.

"I'm hoping he will be able to grab this opportunity with all the experience that he has and make a place for him back in the Indian team."

India will bank on the form of Shubman Gill, Rahane, Virat Kohli, and Pujara to score big against a lethal Australian attack comprising Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood.
