In what has been a remarkable season for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) that culminated in the franchise winning the Indian Premier League (IPL) trophy for the fifth time, when they beat Gujarat Titans (GT) in a nail-biting thriller at Ahmedabad, with several individual flashes of brilliance having propelled their fortunes across the season.

New Zealand opener Devon Conway is one such individual. Conway, who was awarded the player of the final for his match-winning knock of 47 for CSK, ended the IPL 2023 season with 672 runs and finished third on the list of top run-getters behind Shubman Gill (890) and Faf du Plessis (730).

With 672 runs, Conway has etched his name in the CSK record books, for being the second-highest run-getter for the franchise in a single IPL season. Conway went past fellow opener Ruturaj Gaikwad's tally of 635 runs from the 2021 edition.

The record for the most runs scored in a single season for CSK is held by former Australian player Michael Hussey.

Hussey, who is currently working with CSK as a batting coach, slammed 733 runs in the 2013 edition of the IPL, where the Chennai-based franchise lost to Mumbai Indians (MI) in the final at Kolkata.

Overall, in IPL, the 31-year-old has amassed 924 runs in 23 matches, since making his debut for CSK in 2022.
