In a significant development, Steven Smith and Rashid Khan are all set to play in the forthcoming edition of The Hundred. The Australian veteran has been roped in by Welsh Fire, while defending champions Oval Invincibles bagged Rashid Khan to strengthen their back-to-back title-winning squad.
On the deadline day of The Hundred competition, teams were able to directly sign a player for the first time before acquiring the rest of the squad from The Hundred Draft later next month. Smith, Rashid were amongst the big names which are set to feature in the fifth edition of the premier franchise league in the UK.
Meanwhile, Ben Stokes, who has represented the Yorkshire-based Northern Superchargers in the past, has decided to not take part in the upcoming edition of The Hundred to manage his workload ahead of what is going to be a big summer for the English Test side.
Other Stars Set To Feature In The Hundred 2025
Kiwi left-arm pacer Trent Boult is set to feature for Birmingham Phoenix in the 2025 edition, while his compatriot Kane Williamson has signed for London Spirits. Manchester Originals roped in Heinrich Klaasen with another South African star David Miller confirmed as new Northern Superchargers’ player.
Moreover, Faf du Plessis will also be in action in The Hundred 2025 as he has been signed by Southern Brave. Todd Boehly’s Trent Rockets has announced Aussie all-rounder Marcus Stoinis as their new recruit as well.
What About The Women's Competition?
In the women's competition, legendary Meg Lanning has been signed by Oval Invincibles ahead of the 2025 season, while another Australian Megan Schutt is ready to don the colors of Birmingham Phoenix.
South African skipper Laura Wolvaardt, who was not retained by Manchester Originals, has signed up to play for Southern Brave. The ICC Women’s Cricketer Of 2024 Amelia Kerr has also grabbed a deal and will be playing for Manchester Originals.
After four successful seasons, The Hundred is all set for its fifth edition and is all set for its fifth edition and is scheduled to start from August 5 with Oval Invincibles and London Spirits taking on each other at the Home Of Cricket, Lords. With many IPL franchise owners recently acquiring stakes in teams at The Hundred, the new edition is set to be bigger and grab more eyeballs with cricket’s biggest stars featuring in it.
