MI Buy Oval Invincibles To Mark Start Of IPL Influence In England's The Hundred: Reports

The Hundred started off with a great enthusiasm in UK in 2021 and the tournament turned out to be success in its initial four years. Now, ahead of the 2025 season, the tournament is all set to enter another exciting stage with IPL franchises making its entry into the league. 

According to the reports from Cricbuzz, SkySports and EspnCricinfo, the Reilance Industries Limited (RIL), the owners of popular Mumbai Indians franchise has bought 49 percent stakes of the Oval Invincibles. The Oval Invincibles have won the last two editions of The Hundred and MI with this purchase are aiming to carry forward their legacy of dominating franchise leagues around the world. 

Reliance Industries Limited Buy 49 Percent Stakes Of Oval Invincibles

According to Cricbuzz, the enterprise value of the team was GBP 123 million and as they have got 49 percent stakes, the total amount to be paid by RIL would be around 61 Million. There has been no official confirmation by ECB though and it is expected to come after completion of the whole process next week. Also, according to ESPNCricinfo, the Ambanis won the bid against some high-profile competitors like Silicon Valley tech consortium and private equity firm CVC.

After the completion of the whole process, Oval Invincibles will be co-owned by RIL and Surrey, the richest English county while the latter will continue to hold majority of stakes at 51 percent. The addition of Oval Invincibles has now made it the sixth franchise owner by Reliance Industries Limited after Mumbai Indians in IPL and WPL, MI Cape Town (SA20), MI Emirates (ILT20) and MI New York in Major Cricket League (MLC).
