Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced India Women cricket team’s upcoming home series schedule which involves T20I and ODI bilateral series against West Indies and Ireland. The ODI series in particular, will be played under ICC Women’s Championship.
India Women Cricket Team are coming off a stellar 3-game ODI series victory against New Zealand at home after batters and bowlers delivered a collective performance. Smriti Mandhana scored a century in the series finale, whereas Radha Yadav and Deepti Sharma took 13 wickets in 3 games combined to test the Kiwi’s muscle power.
India Women to host West Indies, Ireland
Meanwhile, after a brief break, the Indian Women’s cricket team will be back in action against Australia Women in a 3-game ODI series starting from December 5 to 11. Post that, India Women will host West Indies Women in a 3-game T20I and ODI series. The T20Is will be held between December 15-19 at the DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai whereas the ODIs will be played in Baroda.
Once that concluded, Ireland Women will tour India for a 3-game ODI series, with all games being played under ICC Women’s Championship. Those 3 games will be played at Rajkot from January 10-15.
Notably, after the ODI series victory against White Ferns, India ranks third in the ICC Women’s Championship table with 25 points in 15 games. Australia and England are tied for first place with 28 points. Hence, the upcoming home tours present an opportunity for India Women to close the gap.
Smriti Mandhana breaks ODI century record
After a couple of serious failures, Smriti Mandhana snapped out of her concerning slump to slam a century off 108 balls against New Zealand in the series decider ODI held at Ahmedabad. Smriti hit her 8th career ODI century and surpassed legend Mithali Raj to become the Indian player with the most ODI centuries. India ended up winning the contest by 6 wickets and also sealed the series.
