India T20I captain, Suryakumar Yadav, is all set to return to action in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT). After missing the initial matches, he’ll rejoin Mumbai’s team for their upcoming games.
When and Where Will SKY Play?
As per reports from the Times of India, Suryakumar will be available for Mumbai's game against Services on December 3 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad, and another match against Andhra Pradesh on December 5.
With his return, Mumbai might consider giving him the captaincy. However, ESPN Cricinfo suggests that Shreyas Iyer is likely to continue as the captain for now.
Currently, Mumbai is playing their fourth match of the league stage against Nagaland. Suryakumar’s presence will add more strength to an already formidable batting lineup, featuring stars like Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer, and Ajinkya Rahane.
Under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer, Mumbai has had a mixed performance in the tournament so far. They’ve won two of their three matches, earning 8 points, but suffered a loss to Kerala, falling short of a huge 235-run target.
Suryakumar last played in the T20I series against South Africa, where he had a tough time with the bat, scoring just 26 runs in three innings. Despite this, his return is expected to boost Mumbai’s chances in the league.
