Pakistan’s newly-appointed Test skipper Shan Masood has been announced as the new captain of the Karachi Kings franchise for the upcoming Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2024 season. The franchise confirmed the same mere moments prior to the commencement of the PSL 2024 player draft on December 13.

Shan Masood to lead Karachi Kings in PSL 2024

Pakistan opening batsman Shan Masood is set to lead Karachi Kings in his first stint with the franchise next year. The 34-year-old launched his PSL journey with Multan Sultans back in 2019 until he was roped in by the Karachi Kings management for the 2024 edition of the tournament.

On PSL 2024 player draft day, the franchise took to its social media accounts to confirm that their new-recruit will be leading them next season, thus replacing outbound all-rounder Imad Wasim.

Shan Masood is also the brand ambassador of the franchise, where he will be joining the likes of T20 veterans Shoaib Malik, Tabraiz Shamsi, and James Vince, among others.

Shan Masood is currently in Australia as part of his maiden Test captaincy assignment for the Pakistan national team. The cricketer will be leading his side in a three-match Test series, set to commence from December 14 onwards at the Perth Stadium. The fixtures also constitute a part of the ongoing 2023-25 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle.
