On Sunday, Shaheen's Lions took on the Dolphins, where the latter registered a 16-run win in a high-scoring thriller. Things went from bad to worse for Afridi as he injured his left-knee after being hit on the leg when he came to bat.

A delivery from Faheem Ashraf hit Shaheen on his left knee, which left him in immense pain. The physio arrived on the ground and eventually, Afridi returned to the pavilion retired hurt.  However, Afridi returned to bat at the fall of the next wicket as his side chased a mammoth total of 327 runs. Afridi scored an unbeaten 33 (28), which featured five sixes.

Shaheen Afridi Provides Update On His Injury

In the post-match interview, Afridi revealed that he was fine and gave an update on his injury.

"My knee is fine. I had dived earlier in the outfield so I already had a cut with swelling, then it got hit while batting so it was paining a bit," said Shaheen Afridi.

It is a massive blow for Pakistan as they want their star pacer to be fit, and they have some crucial games coming in the coming weeks. In two weeks, Pakistan will host England for a Test series.

Shaheen Afridi's Struggles With Injuries

In July 2022, Afridi suffered a knee injury against Sri Lanka, which caused him to miss the series and be ruled out of the Asia Cup 2022.

Afridi took a lot of time to fully recover from that injury, as he had a few scares with his knee in the 2022 T20 World Cup, and it was also one of the reasons behind his underwhelming performance in the 2022 T20 World Cup final.
