In a significant development, there are reports that the BCCI is unwilling to bring Ishan Kishan back in the central contract. Notably, the southpaw was removed from the central contract after an issue with the BCCI in December-January 2024.

Following his ouster from the central contract, Ishan worked hard on his return and made it to India A side. Further, he started his IPL 2025 on a high and smashed a century, that almost made things certain that he would be present in the list of players shortlisted for BCCI's central contract.  However, according to reports from ANI's Vipul Kashyap, Kishan hasn't done enough to get a contract.

Ishan Kishan To Be Left Out Of Central Contract

A BCCI source, speaking with Sportstak, explained the reasons where he broke silence on Ishan Kishan situation. He remarked :

"He still has to wait for his return in central contracts. He has worked on sorting out issues but has not done enough to be get his position back," a source told Sports Tak.

Shreyas Iyer Set To Get A Central Contract

Alongside Ishan, Shreyas Iyer too was ousted from the central contract after he refused to turn up for domestic game for Mumbai. However, in the past year, Iyer has led Mumbai to SMAT win and also done well in Ranji Trophy and Irani Cup.  Thus, he is all set to be included in central contract.

“Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will retain their A+ grade central contracts despite not being part of the T20Is. They are big names, and the BCCI think that they deserve respect. Shreyas Iyer will be given a contract after his magnificent performances for the Men in Blue,” a BCCI source said.

Recently, Iyer was part of India's squad for Champions Trophy 2025, where he was Men in Blue's leading run-getter in that tournament.
