It is worth noting that it is not the first time that such an incident has occurred in the IPL as a similar instance happened with KKR fans at the Chepauk Stadium in IPL 2024. However, were the authorities to be blamed for not allowing flags with sticks on them? Here's the Truth
Why Didn't Wankhede Stadium Allow KKR Flags Within the Stadium?
For the unversed, flags are allowed within a stadium, but the issue lies in flags with sticks. It is worth noting that during IPL 2022, the BCCI and Mumbai police had a meeting where they decided that no flags with sticks on them would be allowed inside the stadium.
The police deemed sticks to be a tool that can create violence and cause serious injuries to the spectators. Thus, flags with sticks are banned in several stadiums, including Wankhede Stadium.
