The fans woke up to some interesting news on April 1 as Sydney Sixers took to their social media channels to announce that they have roped in India star Virat Kohli as their next player for the upcoming two seasons.

The news spread like wildfire on the internet as the fans got excited to see their idol feature in a new league. Meanwhile, most of the fans found the post to be fishy as the BCCI doesn't allow its contracted players to participate in overseas leagues.

Will Virat Kohli Play for Sydney Sixers?

However, the information was provided by the official account of Sydney Sixers and it got them confused. However, the truth didn't take long to be out as the fans quickly connected the dots and realised that the post was made on April 1, which is also celebrated as April Fool's Day.

Thus, the post was nothing more than a prank played by the Sydney Sixers social media account to trick Virat Kohli fans into believing that the India star will feature in BBL.

How Many Indians Have Played BBL?

Because of BCCI's strict policy of not allowing international stars to participate in overseas leagues, no Indian cricketer has featured in the BBL. However, having said that, there have been two India-origin stars to have starred in the BBL.

Notably, former India cricketer, Unmukt Chand, who shifted his base after lack of opportunity in India has played BBL and also Nikhil Chaudhary.
