On September 8th, the BCCI announced India’s 16-member squad for the upcoming Test match against Bangladesh at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. One of the notable inclusions was Sarfaraz Khan, who earned his spot following an impressive performance in England.

Despite this, Sarfaraz remains the only member of the squad who will not be withdrawn from the ongoing Duleep Trophy, as confirmed by ESPNcricinfo.

Sarfaraz To Feature In Second Round Of Duleep Trophy

Sarfaraz Khan will miss India’s pre-series preparatory camp, scheduled to begin on September 12 in Chennai. Instead, he will feature in India B’s second-round Duleep Trophy match against India C in Anantapur, starting on the same day.

The Mumbai cricketer, known for his aggressive batting, recently contributed 46 runs off 36 balls in India B’s 76-run victory over India A in the tournament opener. Sarfaraz is eager to build on his form before India's Test series against Bangladesh in Chennai, set to commence on September 19..

Sarfaraz Khan Doubtful For 1st Test vs Bangladesh

Despite his recent heroics, Sarfaraz Khan’s inclusion in India’s playing XI remains doubtful as per the reports. With KL Rahul returning to full fitness, his experience of 50 Test matches and recent strong performances give him the upper hand.

Sarfaraz's fearless approach in the series against England impressed many, but Rahul’s stature as a former Test captain makes him a preferred choice. As India focuses on upcoming challenges like the Australia tour later this year, the management is likely to rely on Rahul’s seasoned expertise over Sarfaraz’s youthful flair.
