The Kerala Cricket League (KCL) 2025 kicked off with a grand inauguration ceremony on Sunday, July 20 at Nishagandhi. Dazzling Indian cricketer and Kochi Blue Tigers’ Marquee Player Sanju Samson also graced the occasion as he took centre stage in the league’s glittering curtain-raiser.
The event was also attended by Indian film actress Keerthy Suresh and Kerala sports minister Shri. V. Abdurahiman. During the ceremony, the minister unveiled mascots for the KCL 2025 season, named the “Bat-wielding Tusker”, “Chakyar” and “Hornbill”.

While the KCL T20 2025 season is scheduled to launch on August 22 with the opening match of the tournament, the Kerala Cricket Association (KCA) organized the opening ceremony for the same roughly a month prior at Nishagandhi.

As per the social media update of KCL, Adv. V.K. Prasanth MLA, Indian cricketer Sanju Samson and actress Keerthy Suresh together flagged the trophy, while sports minister Shri. V. Abdurahiman expressed his confidence of KCL becoming India’s top domestic league within the next five years. He also highlighted that the Kerala government will continue to support KCL and the state’s growing sports economy, which will likely be doubled in a couple of years’ time.
The KCL 2025 opening ceremony was also graced by several key KCA officials, team owners and other celebrities Priyadarshan, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Keerthy Suresh and Mohanlal.
Nonetheless, on the cricketing front, the KCL 2025 season will span 17 days starting from August 22. The final will be organised a couple of weeks later on September 7. One of the biggest star attractions of the tournament, Sanju Samson will play for the Kochi Blue Tigers franchise alongside his brother Saly Samson.
