South Africa knocked Zimbabwe out of the T20I tri-series final by winning the fourth match at the Harare Sports Club. Captain Rassie van der Dussen and middle-order batter Rubin Hermann punched out sparkling half-centuries after Corbin Bosch kept Zimbabwe down with his sublime opening gambit.
Here, we take a look at the entire highlights of the fourth T20I of the series, as it panned out at the iconic Harare Sports Club in Harare on Sunday, July 20.
Bennett Pushes SA To 144 After Bosch’s Opening Gambit
Corbin Bosch started off South Africa’s bowling display by getting two early Zimbabwe wickets inside the powerplay overs. Captain Sikandar Raza at number four also failed to lead his team to recovery as the cricketer fell to Nqabayomzi Peter for a sluggish nine in the ninth over.
Struggling at 44-3, opener Brian Bennett crafted a 78-run fourth-wicket partnership with unbeaten Ryan Burl (36* off 31) to take Zimbabwe past the 100-run mark. Lungi Ngidi (1-29) and Nandre Burger (1-20) picked up a wicket each in the slog overs, after Bennett cracked a regal 61 off 43 balls. Zimbabwe eventually conjured a competitive 144-6 in their innings.
Rassie van der Dussen, Rubin 50s Steer SA To Victory
South Africa lost both openers, Lhuan-dre Pretorius and Reeza Hendricks to young Zimbabwe fast bowler Tinotenda Maposa early in the innings to slip to 22-2 in 4.1 overs. Captain Rassie van der Dussen subsequently led the Proteas from the front with a 106-run partnership with fellow half-centurion Rubin Hermann.
While Hermann blasted 63 from just 36 balls before falling to Richard Ngarava, Rassie remained unbeaten at 52* off 41 to steer South Africa to an easy seven-wicket win in 17.2 overs, taking his team into the final of the Zimbabwe T20I tri-series 2025 in the process.
