In the latest development, the upcoming player auction for the third season of the SA20 is scheduled for October 1, 2024, in Cape Town. 

It is expected to be an exciting event, with 13 slots still available across the teams. Graeme Smith, the league commissioner, has announced that the SA20 will run from January 9 to February 8 next year.


SA20 Auction To Take Place On 1st October 

The auction follows the pre-signing and retention window, during which teams secured key players, but they will now have the opportunity to fill their remaining slots. 

Notably, each franchise is also required to select a 'Season 3 Rookie,' and three franchises still have the option to announce a wildcard before December 30.

A significant highlight for this season is the inclusion of retired Indian wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Karthik, who has joined the Paarl Royals. This marks a historic moment as he becomes the first Indian player to join the SA20 league.

The league will feature a star-studded lineup, including international cricketing giants such as Ben Stokes, Kane Williamson, Joe Root, Trent Boult, Jonny Bairstow, Devon Conway, Zak Crawley, Rashid Khan, and Rahmanullah Gurbaz.
