Hosts Australia and the visiting Pakistan team will now collide in the first T20I of their three-match series on Thursday, November 14. The match will be hosted by The Gabba in Brisbane and the action will commence from 1:30 PM IST onwards. The Pakistan team, under the leadership of newly-appointed captain Mohammad Rizwan, started off their tour by winning the ODI series by a 2-1 margin.
The Australian team drew its three-match rubber in England back in September, shortly after walloping Scotland 3-0 at the latter’s home ground in Edinburgh. Earlier this year, Australia failed to qualify for the semifinals of the 2024 T20 World Cup by coping demoralizing defeats against Afghanistan and India. A new-look Australian side, under the leadership of Josh Inglis, will now face Pakistan at home as they bid to reshape themselves for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
The series against Australia marks Pakistan’s first set of T20I fixtures since making a first-round exit from the 2024 T20 World Cup in June in the USA and the West Indies. Under the leadership of Babar Azam, the ‘Men in Green’ failed to defeat USA and arch-rivals India, and also slumped to a 0-2 defeat in England in May. With a new skipper at the helm in the form of Mohammad Rizwan, Pakistan will be aiming to replicate its newfound ODI success in the game’s truncated format.
