Suryakumar Yadav fifth to complete 150 T20I sixes
Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav launched a couple of big hits against Australia in the first T20I in Canberra to complete 150 sixes in his career. With his latest feat, Suryakumar also became only the second Indian cricketer behind Rohit Sharma, and fifth overall to reach the landmark figure. The explosive right-handed batter made his T20I debut for India back in 2021, and has aggregated 2,709 runs so far in just 86 innings at a prolific average of 37.62. Apart from whacking 150 T20I sixes, Suryakumar Yadav has also struck 246 fours.
Rohit Sharma replaces Shubman Gill as new number 1 ODI batter
Former India captain and legendary opener Rohit Sharma toppled Shubman Gill to become the new number one ranked ICC ODI batter. After smashing a fighting half-century at the Adelaide Oval and a match-winning ton at the Sydney Cricket Ground against Australia earlier this week, the cricketer gained two rungs to jump to the number one spot, surpassing Gill and number two Ibrahim Zadran in the process. Rohit Sharma is currently holding 781 rating points to find himself 17 points ahead of Zadran and 36 ahead of third-placed Shubman Gill.
Laura Wolvaardt fires record Women World Cup knock vs ENG
South Africa Women captain Laura Wolvaardt smeared 169 runs from just 143 balls with 20 fours and four huge sixes against England in the first semifinal of the 2025 ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in Guwahati. The innings helped Wolvaardt punch out the third highest individual score ever recorded in the history of ICC Women World Cup knockout fixtures, going past Nat Sciver-Brunt’s 148-run knock against Australia from the 2022 final. Wolvaardt’s 169-run effort helped South Africa mount 319-7 in 50 overs against England after getting invited to bat first.
MI Emirates sign Nicholas Pooran, Kieron Pollard as wildcards
The MI Emirates franchise has signed former West Indies cricketers Nicholas Pooran and Kieron Pollard as their wildcards for the upcoming ILT20 2025-26 season starting later this year. Both Pooran and Pollard were also a part of the Emirates group earlier this year during ILT20 2025, but they failed to reach the final of the tournament. The two seasoned pros, however, enjoyed much success together, winning the CPL 2025 season for the Trinbago Knight Riders team, as well as lifting the MLC 2025 title for the MI New York franchise.
Shai Hope replaces Will Jacks in Pretoria Capitals for SA20 2025-26
West Indies cricketer Shai Hope has replaced blistering Englishman Will Jacks in the Pretoria Capitals franchise for the upcoming SA20 2025-26 season. Jacks, who has been a part of the Pretoria Capitals unit since the 2023 edition of the tournament, has been removed owing to his national commitment for England in the 2025-26 Ashes Test series later this year. Shai Hope, meanwhile, will be making his SA20 debut through his latest call-up as a replacement player.
