Suryakumar Yadav became the latest candidate to complete 150 sixes in T20I cricket, achieving the feat during his explosive knock against Australia at Canberra’s Manuka Oval. One of only five batters in history to complete 150 sixes, Suryakumar is also one of the fastest ever players to reach the milestone.
Celebrating Suryakumar Yadav’s landmark moment, here is a look at an updated list of five players with the highest number of T20I sixes to their names.
5. Suryakumar Yadav – 150 sixes*
Indian T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav notched up two big hits against Australia in the first T20I in October 2025 at Canberra to complete 150 career sixes in the format. The seasoned pro made his T20I debut back in 2021, and it took him just 86 innings to reach the landmark figure. Back in January 2023, Suryakumar Yadav clattered nine of those sixes in a single innings, doing so against Sri Lanka during his 112-run mayhem from just 51 balls. With his current form and India’s jam-packed T20I schedule, the legendary middle-order is well on his way to becoming the game’s leading six-hitter.
4. Jos Buttler – 172 sixes
England’s 2022 T20 World Cup-winning captain Jos Buttler has stockpiled 172 sixes in his 144-match T20I career. The legendary English batter made his T20I debut back in 2011, and has minted 3,869 runs to date at a prolific average of 35.49. Apart from tonking 172 maximums to rank fourth in the all-time T20I list, Jos Buttler is also one of only a handful of batters in history to have struck 350 or more fours in the format, a feat matched only by former Indian players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, legendary Irishman Paul Stirling and Pakistan veteran Babar Azam.
3. Martin Guptill – 173 sixes
Former New Zealand cricketer Martin Guptill clattered 173 maximums in T20I cricket in his 13-year career between 2009 and 2022. The 122-match veteran also tonked two tons in the format, and dispatched nine sixes during his cracking 105-run knock against Australia in Auckland back in February 2018. With over 3,500 runs in just 118 innings, Martin Guptill is also one of the highest run-makers in T20Is, and his explosive strike rate of 135.70 is a testament to his six-hitting pedigree.
2. Muhammad Waseem – 187 sixes
UAE legend Muhammad Waseem, with 187 sixes in just 91 innings, has proven himself to be a relentless six-hitting machine. The explosive opening batter also holds the highest number of T20I sixes among players from non-Test-playing nations by a landslide, and is already threatening to take away the crown for most T20I sixes from the former Indian captain.
Remarkably, Muhammad Waseem made his T20I debut just four years ago, and the cricketer has already aggregated 3,184 runs in the format at an average of 37.02. Waseem has also decorated his profile with 265 fours, and he holds a blistering strike rate of over 150.
1. Rohit Sharma – 205 sixes
Former India captain, all-time legendary opener and two-time T20 World Cup winner Rohit Sharma confirmed his retirement from the format on a triumphant note in June 2024. At the time of his exit, the cricketer had already racked up 205 sixes in just 151 innings, and to this date, he remains the only batter in T20I history to have hauled over 200 maximums. Back in December 2017, Rohit Sharma tonked 10 sixes in a single Indore evening against Sri Lanka when he blasted 118 from just 43 balls.
He is also the highest run-maker in the format, and holds a staggering record of notching up five T20I centuries, a feat matched only by Australian all-rounder Glenn Maxwell.
