The MI Emirates has signed seasoned Caribbean T20 icons Nicholas Pooran and Kieron Pollard as their wildcards for the upcoming 2025-26 edition of the tournament. The two cricketers were also part of the CPL 2025 winning Trinbago Knight Riders team, and the MLC 2025 winning MI New York franchise earlier this year.
Also a part of the MI Emirates for ILT20 2025 back in January this year, the two hard-hitting radicals failed to script a similar success story for their UAE-based team.
Pollard and Pooran to headline MI Emirates’ Caribbean firepower
Former West Indies cricketers and T20 globe-trotters Nicholas Pooran and Kieron Pollard will be reuniting in the ILT20 for the MI Emirates franchise later this year. Pooran also led Pollard and others in the Emirates back in January and February, but his team fell short in the Eliminator against Sharjah Warriorz in Abu Dhabi.
Nicholas Pooran is also a part of MI’s SA20 franchise, the MI Cape Town. However, the fag end of the ILT20 2025-26 season is set to coincide with the opening week of the SA20 2025-26 season in South Africa.
Nonetheless, at the MI Emirates camp, both Nicholas Pooran and Kieron Pollard will be further boosting the team’s Caribbean firepower, considering the Emirates already feature the likes of Andre Fletcher, Ackeem Auguste and star all-rounder Romario Shepherd.
The ILT20 2025-26 season is set to commence from December 2 onwards later this year and will run until January 4. The MI Emirates will play their first match of the season on December 4 with a match against the Gulf Giants at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai.
