Rohit Sharma named ICC ambassador for 2026 T20 World Cup
Former Indian captain Rohit Sharma has been named as the ICC ambassador for the upcoming 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. ICC Chairman Jay Shah confirmed the same through his social media account, shortly after the apex council locked in venues for the multi-nation tournament.
Under the leadership of Rohit Sharma, Team India won the previous T20 World Cup in 2024, and the legendary opener himself unleashed cracking match-winning knocks against Australia and England, the latter in the semifinals. He shortly announced his retirement from the format after India defeated South Africa in the final.
Hardik Pandya fit, on track to make his return in SMAT 2025: Report
Senior Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been reportedly declared fit and will likely make his return to competitive cricket through the upcoming 2025-26 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy season. As reported by the PTI, Baroda head coach stated that the team wants Pandya to play a majority of games in the tournament.
It is worth noting that Hardik Pandya sustained an injury back in September during the fag end of the 2025 Asia Cup in the UAE. He was subsequently ruled out of India’s white-ball series in Australia.
ICC unveil schedule for 2026 T20 World Cup
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the entire schedule for the upcoming 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in India and Sri Lanka. As per the itinerary, Pakistan will face Netherlands in the opening match of the tournament on February 7 in Colombo.
West Indies will cross paths with Bangladesh in Kolkata later on the same day, while defending champions and hosts India will collide with USA in Mumbai. The two semifinals will be hosted by Kolkata/Colombo and Mumbai on March 4 and March 5. The final will be hosted by either Ahmedabad or Colombo three days later on March 8.
Virat Kohli reaches India for South Africa ODI series
Legendary Indian batter Virat Kohli has reached the country from his England home to join his national teammates for the upcoming three-match ODI series against the visiting South African team. Kohli last graced the national jersey last month during the ODI series in Australia, where he scored a match-winning 74* in the dead-rubber after sustaining two ducks in the first two games. Already retired from Tests and T20Is, Virat Kohli’s participation in the ODI series will serve him in good stead for the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup.
Hazlewood, Pat Cummins gear up in Sydney for Ashes 2025 return
Australia’s injured and experienced fast bowlers Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood took to a full-fledged training session in Sydney as the duo gear up to attain full recovery to make their respective returns to the national team for the ongoing 2025-26 Ashes series. Both speedsters missed the first Test in Perth last week owing to their injuries, with Cricket Australia claiming that the two cricketers are optimistic of their return in Brisbane for the second Test from December 4.
