In what seems to be a pleasing piece of news for the Indian cricket fans, the ICC chair Jay Shah announced India’s World Champion skippers, Rohit Sharma and Harmanpreet Kaur as the ICC ambassadors for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2026.
“I am pleased to announce India’s T20 World Cup 2024 champion and Champions Trophy 2025-winning skipper Mr Rohit Sharma as the ICC ambassador for the T20 World Cup 2026,” said Jay Shah during ICC’s schedule reveal event in Mumbai.

India's T20 World champion skipper Rohit Sharma also expressed his gratitude to the apex cricket council and chair Jay Shah for giving him this honour.
"From the bottom of my heart, I would like to thank ICC and Jay bhai, truly honoured to be the ambassador of the organization like ICC. It’s a great privilege for me. So, yeah, very thankful, hopefully we create magic again. It’s a big chance to win an ICC trophy. I completed 18 years in international cricket and have been fortunate to win two T20 World cup titles, including one in the start of my career," said Rohit during the event.
"Having played all the world cups and now watching games from home, will be a bit different, but i will enjoy it," he added later.
India to face arch-rivals Pakistan on February 15
Meanwhile, the International Cricket Council also announced the official schedule for the upcoming 10th edition of the prestigious cricket biennial in 2026. The hosts and the defending champions, India are placed in Group A with the arch-rivals, Pakistan, alongside USA, Pakistan, and the Netherlands.
The holders will take on the United States of America in their campaign opener on February 7 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, followed by the game against Namibia at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on February 12.
Suryakumar Yadav and Co. will lock horns with the arch-rivals, Pakistan on February 15 at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo before their group-stage journey summing up with the game against the Netherlands on February 18 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
