Talismanic batters Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma will once again be in action during India's final ODI of the ongoing three-match series against Sri Lanka at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. 

On Sunday, Sri Lanka showcased exemplary form with bat and ball to stun India with a 32-run victory. 

After the batters' collective effort powered the Lankans to a respectable 240-run total, Jeffrey Vandersay's phenomenal six-wicket haul ensured a commanding victory for the hosts.

Rohit, Kohli eye major batting milestones in 3rd ODI

So, as India gear up to restore parity with a win in the third and final ODI, all eyes lie on Rohit and Kohli, who are expected to play key roles for the visitors. 

However, the legendary batters can also achieve several batting feats if they step up with the bat in the decider. 

Notably, Indian captain Rohit Sharma is on the verge of breaching the 2000-run landmark against Sri Lanka in ODIs. 

If he scores 14 runs, Rohit will become the fourth Indian batter to achieve the milestone, joining Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, and Virat Kohli. 

Additionally, Rohit will be the ninth Indian batter to slam 1000 runs against the Lankans across formats in their backyard if he scores 42 runs in the final game of the series. 

Meanwhile, Rohit's partner-in-crime Virat Kohli needs 97 runs to complete 1000 ODI runs against Sri Lanka in their backyard. Currently, Kohli is third on the list with 903 runs. 

If he attains the landmark, he will be the third Indian batter after Tendulkar and Dhoni to do so.
