Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced a significant salary increase for its domestic male cricketers. Category 1 players in Pakistan will now receive an annual salary of approximately INR 20 lakhs.

Despite this hike, these players will still earn five times less than their Indian counterparts. Indian domestic cricketers can earn up to INR 1 crore annually, highlighting the substantial disparity in earnings between the two nations.

Previously, Pakistani players' salaries ranged from PKR 50,000 to PKR 300,000 per month. With the recent increase, salaries now range from PKR 250,000 to PKR 550,000 per month. Converted to Indian Rupees, the top-tier players will earn around INR 20 lakhs annually.

This earnings gap is not limited to domestic contracts but extends to ICC profits, central contracts, and even league payments such as those in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also increased salaries for domestic cricketers earlier this year. An Indian player participating in a minimum of 10 Ranji Trophy matches can earn between INR 75 lakhs to INR 1 crore per season.

Notably, during the maiden Women's Premier League (WPL) auction two seasons ago, it was revealed that top Indian batter Smriti Mandhana would earn more in the WPL than Pakistan’s Babar Azam in the PSL.
