In a significant development, former India and Royal Challengers Bengaluru cricketer Dinesh Karthik has been roped in as the brand ambassador of South Africa's premier T20 league, the SA20. 

The development was made official by SA20's official handle on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) on Monday afternoon.

Karthik, who recently took over as RCB's batting coach, expressed his happiness at being a part of the SA20, which he termed as one of the best T20 leagues in the world. 

He also highlighted the tournament's growing popularity among masses, citing how it has helped the Proteas nurture fine talents for the shortest format. 

"I am extremely excited, I have to say. It's one of the best domestic franchise tournaments going around the world. Being appointed as its brand ambassador; I couldn't be prouder. I am looking forward to being a part of the tournament. It's a tournament which pulls a lot of crowd and families as well which come to watch it," Karthik said in the video.

"First thing, the quality of the competition; the kind of players we find domestically, decides the strength of the competition. And it's been arguably one of the bests going around. The way South African cricket has benefitted from it is there for everybody to see," he added. 

Thus, Karthik became the second brand ambassador of SA20, joining RCB and South Africa great AB de Villiers.
