Rohit Sharma’s poor run with the bat continued as he fell for just 2 runs off 6 balls in the ongoing first ODI against England at Nagpur. In the first innings England made 248 runs, chasing the target India got off to a shaky start as Yashasvi Jaiswal failed to make an impact on his debut. With the pressure mounting, all eyes was on Rohit to steady the innings. However, the Indian captain perished in the very next over, falling to a soft dismissal off Saqib Mahmood.

In the sixth over of the second innings, Saqib Mahmood bowled a full delivery on leg stump. Rohit, looking to flick it towards the leg side, played the shot too early, resulting in a leading edge on straight to mid-on, where Liam Livingstone took an easy catch. The manner of dismissal was almost similar to his recent struggles in Test cricket and the Ranji Trophy.

Fans Furious, Social Media Erupts

As soon as Rohit’s wicket fell, fans took to social media to vent their frustration. Many were quick to criticise his form, with some brutally calling for his retirement, while others claimed that the 37-year-old skipper was refusing to accept the decline of his career.

With the Champions Trophy just knocking at the door, Rohit’s struggles in white-ball cricket have now become a major talking point among fans and followers. While his failures in red-ball cricket were overlooked, but his inability to make an impact in ODIs is now a growing concern for the team. The Indian skipper will have a chance to silence his critics in the upcoming matches of the series.
