IND vs ENG 1st ODI: Pitch Report

Deep Dasgupta: "Traditionally this has not been a high scoring venue. 2019 was the last time we had an ODI at this venue. It's a big ground and talking about the dimensions, 69M on my right, 68M on my left. Straight is 75M. Talking about the pitch, this is a red soil pitch, what do you make of this surface.

Graeme Swann: "Honestly, this looks a very good pitch for batting. It's the red soil pitch which means it is a perfect surface for a One-Day game. Just looking down on a length here and I am going to tap here, it is rock hard. A little bit of grass I can see but it is very hard. There is a few cracks here and there but wont bother much for the batters.

Graeme Swann: "Yeah England would prefer a pitch with pace of course. I think this will be a 50:50 wicket. India will prefer a slower wicket but one thing I haven't mentioned, there is a slight breeze that is blowing down which will suit the spinners. Although the senior spinners will look to bowl from the far end so that the breeze is at their back, making the batters hit towards the breeze.

Deep Dasgupta: "Excellent wicket to bat on as I said but you would want to win the toss and bat first, keeping in mind the dew factor later in the day."
