On Thursday, February 6, India locked horns against England in the first ODI at the VCA stadium in Nagpur. Ahead of the first match, the Men in Blue dealt a heavy blow as Virat Kohli got ruled out of the opening match.
Notably, Virat dealt a blow to his right knee that ruled him out of the first ODI. However, it led to the inclusion of Yashasvi Jaiswal in the team, who is making his ODI debut. The southpaw, who has cemented his place in the T20Is and Test team, hasn't played any ODI.

Before the start of the match, Jaiswal was emotional as Indian skipper Rohit Sharma presented him with the India cap. Rohit, part of the team huddle, heaped praise for Jaiswal and then gave
him the much-deserved India cap. Not just Rohit, but India head coach Gautam Gambhir too was giving some motivation to Jaiswal ahead of his India debut.

It is worth noting that during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal hogged the internet after Jaiswal was left stranded in the team hotel as he was late to board the team bus on time, resulting in the Indian skipper ordering the bus to depart for the venue without Jaiswal,
It led to rumours on the internet that things are not well between the two. However, the Nagpur pre-match ceremony put an end to that.
Not just Jaiswal, but Harshit Rana is also making his ODI debut. Mohammed Shami, who is marking his first ODI since the 2023 World Cup final, presented Rana with the India cap.
