Mohammad Rizwan was announced as Pakistan's white-ball captain before the all-important tour of Australia and the wicketkeeper batter has delivered straightaway. Pakistan have registered an ODI series win against Australia after 22 long years and it has come by a margin of 2-1.
The Aussies won the opening game of the series, and it looked like Pakistan would once again crumble against the might of Aussies in alien conditions. However, they stepped up big time in the next two games and bowlers delivered mighty punches knocking down Australia for paltry totals of 163 and 140. Their batters also did well in the last two matches and overall it was a complete performance from Pakistan.
Rizwan Emphasises On Team Work After Series Win
Mohammad Rizwan also expressed his happiness after the win and mentioned it as a special moment for him and reckoned that his country would be proud of their achievement. He also accepted that they did not do well in the last three years and it feels great to win the series. He aslo stated that he wants to be the captain only in the presentation ceremony and toss and emphasised on the need for everyone to contribute.
"This is a special moment for me. We know our nation. They will be very happy. In the last three years, we didn't perform as their expectations. If you win, it feels great. I just want to be the captain in the presentation and toss. I want everyone to contribute and happy with everyone's performance. "
He also credited his bowlers and openers for their performance and thanked the Pakistan fans for their support throughout the series.
"You have to give credit to all the bowlers. The Australian team is not an easy team. The bowlers adapted really well. Credit to the bowlers. I also want to give the credit to Saim Ayub and Abdullah Shafique for giving the stand in the last game as well as in this game which helped us chase down the total. The fans always love. They always come in numbers to support us. Thank you to everyone."
The focus will now shift to the shortest format with first game to be played at the iconic Gabba on 14th of November.
