To bring delight to cricket fans across the globe, Rishabh Pant, the swashbuckling wicket-keeper batsman, is set to be included in India’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, to be played in the West Indies and the USA post the IPL 2024.

The 26-year-old, who had a horrific car accident 16 months ago, is expected to make a blockbuster return to the national set-up in the coming showpiece event, as reported by Cricbuzz.

Earlier, BCCI secretary Jay Shah hinted that Pant’s return to India’s squad could be possible if only he would perform with the bat as well as keep the wickets superbly in the ongoing IPL edition. And it is happening in reality as well, making it easy for the Delhi Capitals skipper to make the much-anticipated comeback.

Even though Delhi Capitals are placed at the bottom of the points table, having won once in five matches, Pant has already scored 50+ scores this season, and that too at a decent strike rate. In all, he has tallied 153 runs across five innings, with the strike rate reading 154.55.

Pant’s return to India means the Men in Blue may overlook Jitesh Sharma in the playing XI when they take the field for the T20 World Cup. Jitesh was the frontrunner to don the big gloves behind the stumps, but with Pant’s comeback, he is expected to be in the squad, but not among the starters.
