In a massive setback for Lahore Qalandars, ace opener Fakhar Zaman has been ruled out of their ongoing PSL clash against Quetta Gladiators due to injury. 

As revealed by Lahore's captain Shaheen Afridi, Fakhar fractured his finger while attempting for a forward diving catch in his side's previous league-stage match against Karachi Kings. In his absence, Sahibzada Farhan is opening the innings alongside Mirza Tahir Baig. 

At toss, Shaheen Afridi reflected on Lahore's abysmal campaign in the PSL 2024, revealing the reason behind Fakhar's exclusion from this match. 

“Result wise it's very tough, as a team we fought in every game, 6-7 games were really close. Two changes, unfortunately Fakhar got fracture on his finger,” Shaheen stated. 

Lahore Qalandars have had a forgettable PSL journey this season, occupying the bottom spot in the points table with a single win in nine appearances. Their solitary victory came recently when they trounced Islamabad United by a 17-run margin. 

Hailed for his scintillating stroke play, Fakhar also had a torrid run in the PSL this year, managing only 157 runs in eight innings at a mediocre average of 19.62. 

Regarding the ongoing face-off, Lahore have got a positive start to their innings, placed at 30 for no loss in 4.2 overs as of writing.
