Indian cricketer Rinku Singh is set to take part in the Duleep Trophy 2024. After performing well in different formats of the game, Singh will now join Abhimanyu Easwaran’s India B team for the rest of the tournament, adding strength to their squad for the important upcoming matches.

Rinku Singh was leading the Meerut Mavericks in the UPT20 League but has now left to join India B in the Duleep Trophy. This decision shows Singh’s focus on longer formats of cricket, where he hopes to prove his abilities.

Rinku mentioned in an interview with the TOI that he was disappointed at first when he wasn’t selected, but now he’s thrilled to have gotten the opportunity.

“My job is to work hard, and I am extremely delighted to have received the call for Duleep Trophy. When the teams were initially announced, I was not selected. I was disheartened because my responsibility is to put in the hard work which I am doing. Today, I feel even more elated as I am here to represent India B in the prestigious Duleep Trophy,” Rinku said as quoted by TOI.

Rinku Singh is not the only player from Uttar Pradesh in the Duleep Trophy. Aaqib Khan will also participate, while Dhruv Jurel and Yash Dayal have been chosen for India’s squad in the upcoming Test match against Bangladesh.

Ankit Chatterjee, the President of the Uttar Pradesh Cricket Association, confirmed that Rinku and Khan have already joined the India B team in Bengaluru.

Rinku Singh Dreams To Play Red-ball Cricket

Though Rinku Singh is mainly known for his skills in shorter formats, especially in the IPL, he has his eyes set on playing Test cricket. With an impressive First-Class average of 54.7 and seven centuries, Rinku is eager to represent India in Test matches.

Earlier in an interview, Rinku Singh said that he wants to play red-ball cricket; the 26-year-old batter has a deep affinity for red-ball cricket and dreams to excel across all three formats for the country.

"I want to play all three formats of the game. I like playing Test cricket a lot. My batting average in red-ball cricket is 55," he said.
