Rinku Singh is one of the budding stars of Indian cricket. After a stellar show in the IPL, Singh has made his way into the Indian team and has delivered in most of the opportunities he got at the highest level. 

Currently, Rinku Singh, the Indian player, is showcasing his skills in the Uttar Pradesh T20 League. Leading the Meerur Mavericks, Rinku has been primarily known for his finishing abilities with the bat. However, in a surprising turn of events in the 20th match of the Uttar Pradesh T20 League, he displayed his versatility by excelling with the ball in hand.

In the mentioned game, the Kanpur Superstars won the toss and chose to field first. It was a rain-interrupted affair, and the game was shortened to nine overs a side. Rinku's team put in a decent effort, led by Madhav Kaushik (52 off 26 balls), and posted 90/3 in their nine overs. The target for their opposition was adjusted to 105 as per the DLS method.

In reply, the Superstars were 61/3 in five overs when Rinku Singh took up the bowling responsibilities. They needed 45 runs off 24 balls, and with seven wickets in hand, it looked like an achievable target. But the Mavericks' skipper conceded just seven runs off his over. 

Rinku Singh's over was a game-changer, altering the course of the match. His quick wickets disrupted the Superstars' momentum, leading to their downfall and a total score of just 83 in 7.4 overs. The Mavericks' captain played a pivotal role in his team's victory in a closely contested match. 

Rinku's team is currently dominating the league table. The Mavericks have won eight of their nine games and are sitting pretty at the top of the points table. 

Siginficance of the spell in the current scheme of things for India

Rinku's bowling performance in this match holds significant implications for his role in the Indian white-ball team. Under the leadership of the new head coach, Gautam Gambhir, the team management is clearly valuing utility players. 

Rinku's ability to contribute with the ball was evident during the T20I series against Sri Lanka. In the Gambhir era, we have seen other batters like Suryakumar Yadav and Yashasvi Jaiswal also taking up the ball.
