Rift Between Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya? Indian Captain & Vice-Captain Unfollow Each Other

In a surprising twist that sent shockwaves through the cricket community, Gujarat Titans' ex-captain Hardik Pandya has been traded to the Mumbai Indians for a staggering INR 15 Crore just before the IPL 2024 auction.

Pandya, a significant part of Mumbai Indians before donning the captaincy role for Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2022 season, led them to their debut IPL title. He also led Gujarat to the final of the 16th season of the cash-rich league.

In a calculated move, Mumbai Indians appear to be eyeing Hardik Pandya for the role of team captain, possibly due to concerns over Rohit Sharma's recent performances that have been less than stellar in the last couple of seasons.

Amidst the ongoing developments, social media is rife with chatter about Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya unfollowing each other on Instagram, fueling rumours of a potential strain in the camaraderie between these cricket stalwarts.

Given Rohit Sharma's recent shortcomings in leading India to ICC trophies over the past year, with losses in the T20 World Cup 2022, World Test Championship 2023, and the recent ICC ODI World Cup 2023 at home, Hardik Pandya emerges as the top contender for India's white-ball captaincy.

Notably, Rohit Sharma led Mumbai Indians to five IPL titles - in 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020, making him one of the most successful captains in the history of the Indian Premier League, alongside MS Dhoni, who led the Chennai Super Kings to five titles, with the latest coming in the IPL 2023 season.
